Davao-based Eevee wins NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool 2009

MANILA, Philippines — Davao-based college band Eevee bagged the grand prize in this year’s NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool. The competition capped off its fifth successful year with a full concert featuring the lucky 13 NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool finalists, as well as some of the country’s best musical acts at the Ninoy Aquino Sports Stadium. Eevee, composed of Enzo Miguel Villegas (vocals and guitar), Paolo Raymundo Segura (lead guitar), Jerrick Adrian Sy (bass) and Craig John Neniel (drums), won the competition’s PhP250,000 cash prize, an exclusive record label deal with Sony Music Entertainment Philippines and PhP150,000 worth of music equipment for the school they represent.

Eevee bags NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool 2009 Grand Prize. The young Davaoeño band from Philippine Women’s University – Davao bested out 12 other college bands during the Grand Finals Night last November 14 at the Ninoy Aquino Sports Stadium in Manila.

Representing Philippine Women’s College of Davao, Eevee bested out 13 of the best college bands from across the country during the Finals night. The lucky 13 college bands that performed at the Ninoy Aquino Sports Stadium this year are: Little School House (Ateneo de Cagayan – Xavier University), Eevee (Philippine Women’s College – Davao), Disco…Disco…Disco (St. Michael’s College – Iligan City), Lady Suzette (AMA – Tacloban), Sundae Special (Iloilo Doctors College), 3 Hours and 10  (University of the Visayas – Cebu), Iktuz (Colegio de San Juan De Letran Calamba - Calamba Laguna), Mixed Tape (Lyceum - St. Cabrini College of Allied Medicine – Batangas), In Descent (University of Perpetual Help Laguna – Binan Laguna), Nameless Heroes  (Mapua Institute of Technology - Makati), Play (Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Quezon City), Soltera (AMA - International Institute of Technology - Cubao) and Project (Jose Rizal University).

“We are very overwhelmed with this victory. All the 13 bands that were with us on our “journey to fame” were really good and it was anybody’s game up until show time. We would like to thank NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool for this opportunity for us to realize our dreams as music superstars,” exclaimed Eevee’s frontman Enzo Villegas.

The NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool finalists performed alongside some of the country’s best bands who served as the finalists’ mentors leading up to the Grand Finals Night. The young musicians got to interact, jam and perform alongside chart toppers like NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool Grand Prize Winners Hilera and Letter Day Story, 6CycleMind, Pedicab, Itchy Worms, Imago, Sugarfree, Taken By Cars, Urbandub, Spongecola, Paraluman, Callalily, Sandwich and Moonstar 88. Known dance group Philippine All Stars brought the audience to their feet with their performances. Another rare sight during the NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool Grand Finals Night was when all the vocalists from this year’s mentor bands banded together and shared the stage for one outstanding performance. “It didn’t feel like a competition at all during the Grand Finals Night. Yes, we were nervous but in the end the entire night became a celebration of how much the Filipino youth loves music. We’re really proud to be part of this experience—winning the Grand Prize was just the cherry on top of the delicious cake,” Villegas added.

“NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool’s fifth year has proven to be its most exciting so far. We not only found extraordinary talents this year — the competition has never been this close among the finalists. We’re very proud to see the progress all the finalists have made ever since we saw them during the Eliminations leg in October. Eevee, along with the other 12 finalists this year, have all shown that handa na silang sumikat with the lessons they gained from NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool. If anything, the talent we discovered with this year’s competition only proves that the Filipino youth are indeed ready to make a big splash in the music industry,” said Eileen Rose Bangcoro, NESTLÉ Philippines marketing promotions and events cluster head for NESCAFÉ.

Aside from Bangcoro, the judges during the Grand Finals Night were Sony Music Entertainment Philippines’ Vic Valenciano and Jerrick Mina, Soupstar Entertainment’s Darwin Hernandez, and Soundcreation Studio’s Shinji Tanaka.

This year’s NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool, with the theme “Huwag Na Magtago! Magparamdam Ka Na!”  is supported by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Sony Music Entertainment Philippines, Paseo de Bahamas, Rudy Project, Boracay Scuba, Boracay Mandarin Island Hotel, Ix Chel, La Carmela de Boracay Resort Hotel and Parkmall in Mandaue City, Cebu.

Once again after the First Bite, CBS were invited again for the second time around by Aboitizland Inc, and the tour was so so so fun and great.The ride was awesome. In this event we saw their state project the place was so big and beautiful. Even though they still building it up, but still it makes you relax and refresh your mind. Marcos : I Shall Return??

Have you heard the rumors about Ex-President Ferdinand Marcos being alive? Yes! He is said to be alive and kicking!!. It is said that he is just waiting for the right time to come out and return to the Philippines. I brought this up not because its been a big buzz now online but a friend also told me last friday their experience with her mother form a taxi driver. They were heading to the city and inside the taxi, they were discussing about going abroad since his husband just went to Qatar. Then the taxi driver just interrupted in their discussion saying "If I were you, I don't need to go abroad to find a better paying job because pres. Marcos is coming back to restore the wealth of our country and make us all rich again"  They answered with a laughed, "Manong, Are you serious?" The driver answered with confidence "Yes, he is just nearby ( other country/island) and he is not really dead" He will be back soon to ask payment to those in debt from the Philippines . Remember that we used to be one of the richest country and US are just one of the countries in debt from us . He will be back to ask them to pay and he will also give better jobs to all filipino citizens without any qualifications required if hes a college graduate or whatsoever and stressed that everyone is fair in salary and opportunities. He will also uncover where the "Yamashita treasure" hidden".

Then the driver asked my friend to look at closely the 100 peso bill and asked to explained why in the bill shows the US flag carried down while the Philippine flag was raised. She did not answer and the driver explained it is because even before, the Philippines dominated other countries like the influential USA. Upon seeing them not truly convinced, the driver said " remember the date September 11? Why do the  terrorist bomb the twin towers of USA?because they thought that Marcos is gone and there's no one to be afraid of...He will return.. our true savior againts poverty...Then my friend asked "Then how about the body which it was always seen on TV before ...dead...? He said that the truth was its not really F. Marcos but just one of the 5 clones of him and the true Marcos is still alive and well. With doubts, my friend and her mother just shut up and the driver said his final words .."Believe me and I'm serious, I knew all of these because I was once a driver of Marcos' son and family" They just ignored Manong and just headed to the city like they heard nothing

Do you find the story of manong driver convincing? Do you believe that Marcos is still alive? My friend remembered their experience when we saw the Ad of XXX (ABS-CBN) about a certain guy whom accused of being fake or fooling pepole that also have the same statements as the taxi driver with regard to Pres. Marcos' return. We asked if its the same person, she said "No". Is it possible that there are also groups behind it? a Pro-Marcos Cult? What can you say about this rumor? Well, we better watch XXX and find out or lets wait for any development about this issue.

Guest what? How long did i win my princess heart? Well, way back in high school . I am new in the school no body knows me. But there is a gurl who recognize my “attitude problem”, i don't now this gurl but every body in the campus knows her beauty. And it all started when she ask me to stop my goofiness, and on that time I think i have a crush on her because, I felt something strange that even i my self can;t explain what I felt. And every time i saw her around, I felt that strange feeling again. I try to tell her what i feel, but she ignores me, I try to do things to impress her but still it's not working. I got many new friends on that time, but still I'm not satisfied because of her. I try to be close to her friends so that I know what she like and not. When the time i get all i want to know, I send a letter to her so that she know that i like her, But it's useless because she did not believe that I'm the one who wrote the letter. And that time i felt my first rejection to a gurl I like.

Time past away, and at that time where only friends but still the feelings is strangling inside my heart, but I keep it, she got many admirers and most of her boyfriends are my closed friends, At first I am mad at her because, why my friends “pa?” and it really hurt me, but still I did not give up. Time comes and we all graduated in high school, and entered college. When I entered college, my life is so lonely and boring, I'd meet new friends, I find a gurl that accepted me but still its not enough. I send her a letter again just to try and for a change I'm the one who give it to him so that she will believe in me, I try to talk to her but still it's not working, I'm still “busted!”. When the time comes I meet a new gurl I made a plan to make her jealous to this new gurl i meet, I know it is bad because I used and hurt this gurl but it is my only way so that she will recognize me. I show to her that I have a gurlfriend now, and I will give up my feelings to her. And my plan was working, I feel she's jealous to that gurl and recognize me and at that time i make a move, I invite the tow gurls in my house. And that it my gurlfriend got mad at me and we broke up. After a month I text the gurl I really love and send a joke to her that “Would you be my gurlfriend?”. I was shock because she replied and say “ I try, but I'm not sure of my feelings but just wait”, I was so happy because finally she give me a chance, for six years I waited. A month after I text her, she finally accept me as her lover and I finally win for so long. I can't Imagine that I win her heart and for now where getting married this coming Sept. 26, 2009. And that is how long I win my princess heart. END...

Travelling has always been one of my passions. To be able to go to many places known or not, and to experience many unforgettable memories would always excites me to explore such places. My dream has been fulfilled when I became a CBS member. My first experience was when we visit Maribago Bluewater last May. It was such a nice experience that we never stop dreaming of going back to the resort. You can definitely say it’s the only resort who’s service are great in maribago bluewater cebu. Then months, later Sir Ruben of Pinoyworld invited us to visit the sister resort of Maribago. I was more than enthusiastic to be one of the privileged bloggers to have the chance explore the Sumilon Bluewater Island Resort and indeed I was one of the 35 lucky bloggers who made it. Yehey! The group gathered in SM northwing and headed for an adventure ride. It was indeed very adventure that though I love to travel but if im in a closed vehicle like “Van” I really easily get sick and you know what happen next…..I throw up! Huhu…I vomited 4 times!! Waaaa! I really felt weak and told others Is it really this far? And they were all laughing.

So we arrived in Bato,Oslob where the resort’s receiving area for guest who will ride for a boat going to the Island. I felt better and relaxed especially seeing the bright and refreshing view of the white sand beach and the near sight of Sumilon Bluewater. It was so cool… The fun started when we boarded the boat because we had the first all around tour of the island and we are really in awe especially with the white sandbar and great waves that greeted us that made the travel to the Island more enjoyable.

When we arrived at the Eastern Dock of the resort, we were greeted with the smile of the staff and personally by their kind and accommodating Sumilon Bluewater’s Resident Manager, Mr.  Greg Perral. Thanks for the warm welcome Sir! We had an orientation about the resort by Mr. Perral itself while savoring their tuna sandwich with fries. After the orientation, we had an ocular inspection with the rooms that are indeed relaxing with a nice view of the water outside. We were also treated with such appetizing foods provided by the in-house island kitchen managed by Chef de Partie Buddy Amodia. Thanks Chef! That was really good…hmmm… After eating, we were all excited to experience to experience the Sumilon fun eventhough the low pressure “Jolina” is quite challenging us not to go but we are just so excited . We tried the snorkeling and kayaking but the most enjoyable of all was whe new decided to the shifting white sandbar. As young as we are, we are always hungry for challenges and seeing the big waves did not make us feel afraid but the group’s energy was all drained as we face coming waves. You can see our adventures especially when the sandstorm swept us and were just shouting of the sand’s impact to our skin but it was truly a fun experience. There were injured, out of breath and just keep on laughing but all in all it was a great bonding for the group. The sand are all over in our bodies so we savor the last but most refreshing stop…the infinity pool where there is alsoa panoramic view of the water and mainland Cebu. The water is really cold because of the climate but it was refreshing to the body. We were all smile during the afternoon tea with carbonara pasta. After an hour of relaxing, we bid grateful goodbye to Mr. Perral, Chef Amodia  thru a group picture as well as to those  accommodating staff of  Sumilon resort. We arrived in the city probably @ 8:30 pm, had a small chitchat with the members and Sir Ruben like we don’t wanna go home. Hehe.. We know it would take more days or weeks before we will see each other again but looking forward on it. Do you want to experience it as well? Is it a ghost? or just an illusion? But for real, I was shock when I saw the pitcher began to open itself. We were eating our dinner at home while talking about some funny things. We did not mind the surroundings but suddenly we saw the tip of the pitcher moving… See it yourself and watch it closely to judge if it's true or not.

Who can forget as a new CBS member the experience in maribago bluewater beach resort (www.bluewater.com.ph). which is all for free. I had a great time that day. I was so intrigue by the CBS members on how they will treat me as a newbie but we are getting along well so that really made the event more enjoyable. I had a lot of nice memories like the good treatment from the management and staff . I really loved the dessert and the yummy foods during dinner with cultural dancers entertaining. You may see maribago bluewater cebu and maribago bluewater video. to know what I'm talking about but the more exciting revelation is that we will also have the oppurtunity to visit sumilon bluewater island resort.

Twin explosions hit parts of Jolo, Sulu and Iligan City, Lanao del Norte Tuesday morning, killing seven people and wounding scores more.

"My Thoughts on Cotabato Bombing"

I was about to turn off the T.V. After watching one of my favorite afternoon shows yesterday, when my eyes got strucked on one of the headlines on a prime time news show about the bombing occurred in Cotabato. It was an unexpected incident because it happened just near a food stall just near a local church and on a daylight. What made it so tragic is that many innocent civilians got injured and one of whom died. I was moved when I saw that there were men and women of all ages like students and little children got hurt . The PNP and the AFP points that the bombing was caused by the MILF Special Operations Group but the investigation is still on going to prove it though the group denied their relations to the event. This is not the first bombing incident but just one of the four in Mindanao. Where would be the next target? Would it be in Luzon or here in Visayas? How can we be so sure that we are going to be safe in every place we go since they target public places? This would really make us freaked out and feel fear not only for ourselves but also for our loved ones. The sad fact is that the suspects are also our fellow Filipinos who distrust our government and rebelled against the people in power. They believed that justice and good governance can be attained through all out war be it by starting to inflict and sacrificed ordinary people by means of bombing, kidnapping and the like that would attract and weaken our armed forces. Is it justifiable? Would it suffice their hunger for freedom? Will it really help them to be heard of their woes? They stressed that we have a government that is corrupt and weak and the authorities would call the rebels as the one causing injustice for killing fellow Filipino and made our country look bad . If you would ask me, i believe this is not the best time of pinpointing whos at fault and whos not doing their job. I hope they realize that we are both Filipinos and the best way to attain peaceful,progressive country is by helping one another. It is far better if we focus on how we can make our lives better to lessen the feeling of inferiority and minority especially our brothers in Mindanao because of poverty and lack of opportunities. Let us learn to spread love. Its like a famous saying “lets give food and not bombs”.

LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson, defined in equal parts as the world's greatest entertainer and perhaps its most enigmatic figure, was about to attempt one of the greatest comebacks of all time. Then his life was cut shockingly — and so far, mysteriously — short.

The 50-year-old musical superstar died Thursday, just as he was preparing for what would be a series of 50 concerts starting July 13 at London's famed 02 arena. Jackson had been spending hours and hours toiling with a team of dancers for a performance he and his fans hoped would restore his tarnished legacy to its proper place in pop.

An autopsy was planned for Friday, though results were not likely to be final until toxicology tests could be completed, a process that could take several days and sometimes weeks. However, if a cause can be determined by the autopsy, they will announce the results, said Los Angeles County Coroner Investigator Jerry McKibben.

Police said they were investigating, standard procedure in high-profile cases.

Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center after being stricken at his rented home in the posh Los Angeles neighborhood of Holmby Hills. Paramedics tried to resuscitate him at his home for nearly three-quarters of an hour, then rushed him to the hospital, where doctors continued to work on him.

"It is believed he suffered cardiac arrest in his home. However, the cause of his death is unknown until results of the autopsy are known," his brother Jermaine said.

Cardiac arrest is an abnormal heart rhythm that stops the heart from pumping blood to the body. It can occur after a heart attack or be caused by other heart problems.

Jackson's death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music's premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.

The legendary Michael Jackson died on Thursday. he died at the age of 50 cause of (Cardiac Arrest) or heart attack. I heard this horrible news in noon time show called "Wowowee". I really felt sad  about this news it just that i can't Imagine that in a blink of an eye, the king of pop just died in no time because we dont even heard a news prior to hie death that he was rushed to the hospital for any health issues. it just I was  so exited about his world concert tour but suddenly it all gone by the wind..  I'm really sadden about this and I'd like to give my condolences to the family and bid a king's farewell to the greatest all time  performer and the King of Pop - Michael Jackson.

First Cebu Hobby Convention (HOBCON) 2009

Last June 20-21, Cebu Bloggers Society (CBS) was invited once again by Cane Events productions which is held at Parkmall(north reclamation area) to the “1st Cebu Hobby Convention” in partnership by LEVEL UP! (levelupgames.ph) . We were one of the media partners for this year's HOBCON so we got we were given a media ID to have an exclusive chance to cover and took good shots to the participants of their different contest of course for us to blog it. Hehe... Hobby Convention are for those lovers of anime and online games who portrayed their favorite characters on whatever anime shows and level up games they're addicted to through “cross playing”. We saw different characters like that from Manga shows and online games character like characters from Death Note, Soul Eater, Flame of Recca,Flyyf,Grand Chase etc. They also have online games competition by LEVEL UP! . I had characters too from Grand Chase but I didn't register for the contest because I just don't feel it joining! Nyaks! Nyahaha! Well. What we really enjoyed was the cosplay contest where it has different categories and Ahmm... “Empress of Drac” joined the individual cosplayer category.. hehe...and our CBS Pres. Mark, was one of the judges! Weew! Well, the contest was success just like the events and the winners are truly deserving especially the group where they portrayed the “Soul Eater” gang. I really love to watch people who looks cute on their cosplay attires like those little kid who also learned to love anime and online games. The organizers deserves a “kudos” for its success .

Helping Fire Victims

In Umapad Mandaue

Last Sunday,June 14,2009., Cebu Bloggers Society had another event but this time its for a cause that would benefit the fire victims in Umapad, Mandaue City. The weather was not cooperating but we did no retreat, no surrender.. hehe..We still pursue our charitable event for we know the people of those affected would be glad for our little help. we are so blessed that it did not happen to us so its time to give back because its better to give than to receive. We had  monetary sharing and some brought with them rice and used clothing's.
Fortunately, our money was able to buy several cans of sardines,noodles and 25 kilos of rice. We divided into 2 groups and did our tasks. When we arrived to the area where the victims
had their temporary shelter to the same are where the fire broke out, it was already raining but we still entered the vicinity for our main concern is to deliver our gifts to them. It was quite hard for the place is really compressed and it was all raining. We are already soaked but we are still all smile after that day for we know that we had made a great difference for them.

Sizzling Hot

Last night, the CBS family went to Mama Maria's Pizzeria's Opening here in Cebu. They serve authentic Italiano Pizza and Pasta and do you know that its known as well as the” Home of the Biggest Pizza in the Philippines”. What a lucky group we are for we are one of the invited to witness and of course to blog the tasty treats. You can choose different sizes from single size 8 inches, regular size 11 inches, family size 15 inches, xl family size 21 inches xxl family size 30 inches. While waiting for the pizza to arrive, we enjoyed the company of each other and the canned soft drinks served. When we saw the pizza, it was indeed "delightful" to see a huge size of pizza compared to others I've tasted. You can really see the difference. From the flavors with different variants, from Kinilaw, Hawaiian,mama maria with ham and bacon and all other flavors where I did not quite remember anymore the names because I was so concentrated feeling the crunch of the thin crust home made pizza by Mama Maria. What also impressed me is you can see how they make their pizzas as you can see them on the spot. How they put those yummy ingredients and all the way on cooking it in the oven so it would make you feel more excited and crave for it when its already cooked and served. I did not ate that day but it was worth it!

hehe..What makes me ate more? is the "CHILI HOT" sauce that's really made me want more for another slice. Hehe. I didn't notice how many slices I've eaten that day but anyways that was free of charge! hehe.. Thanks to the beautiful foreigner owner who's been very accommodating to us. "Night At The Street"

Last night, me and my friends had a trip one time strolling around the community and as usual, we usually see many wall writings or as what we call vandalism, Product posters and different signage where we can normally see in Filipino streets. According to my research, Vandalism is the behaviour attributed to the Vandals, by the Romans, in respect of culture: ruthless destruction or spoiling of anything beautiful or venerable. Such action includes criminal damage, defacement, graffiti and crass erection of an eyesore.
But whatever you may call it, this is one way of how our young punksters as what they call themselves express and make themselves acknowledged. I compiled all of them and for sure, you can see this as well in your own community. i also included the pictures I edited

Are you scared to insects? Would you freak out if you get to see or touch one? It's really rare for someone to see up close to animals especially those small ones. But not me, I would run after to catch them and take a picture for my personal memorabilia. Get Together! Wee...

Weee!!!... Once again, last May 30, we gather for our yearly meet up . Even though we are just few, still we continued our outing with my classmate, schoolmate, band mate, texmate,call mate,clan mate,blogmate,checkmate,prime mate and coffee mate...hahaha. charbalang.orgsm! and we spent our gathering at Inday Lily's Beach Garden Resort and Spa. I have a funny feeling that they have a program on how to save marine life againts "toxic wastes"

The “Sosyal” Monsters

Vampires and Dracula are creatures of darkness. They are the blood suckers! I called them the “sosyal monsters” (which means high class) because in the way they lived and dress... hehe and they only have “night life”.
